Mobile Pantry

The mobile pantry program helps get food to areas of our state that are under-served or have very limited pantry service.

Mobile 1 ChanuteIn communities where we deploy mobile pantries, we seek out community champions to assist us with a location, volunteers and promotion of the food event.  Our champions do the ground work locally and the Kansas Food Bank provides the food for distribution.

The distribution time for a mobile pantry lasts about one hour.  During this time, our guests check in and go through the line selecting food items for their household.  The Kansas Food Bank supplies a mix of items from canned and dry goods, perishable foods, bread, frozen meat and beverages depending on availability.

Local volunteers help us unload, pack and distribute food to families in their respective communities who face food insecurity.

The following upcoming mobile pantry dates are sponsored by Amerigroup.

With the generous support of Amerigroup Kansas, one of the state’s leading coordinators of Medicaid benefits, the Kansas Food Bank will deploy its mobile food pantry to rural, underserved areas of the state that struggle with food insecurity and hunger. Staff and volunteers will travel to Meade, Haskell, and Edwards counties to hand out free canned goods, dry items, frozen meat, fresh produce, bread and beverages.

Kansas Food Bank and Amerigroup are also planning a similar distribution effort to take place in November. The organizations have plans to expand routes to reach Mitchell and Morris counties in Northcentral Kansas. Anyone in need of assistance is welcome to take advantage of these free distributions.
